Ron was born in Saginaw, Michigan in 1944. Graduated from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Mich. with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Art in 1969. Made a living as a professional artist from 1973 to 1977, then as a cabinet maker and general contractor in Berkeley, California from 1977 to 1992. Began drawing and painting again in Ecuador, South America in 1993.

In 1998, he bought property in La Manzanilla, Mexico and built a house with a plein air painting studio overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Ron resides in Taos, New Mexico during the summer months.

In addition to Galeria La Manzanilla, Ron is also represented by Walden Fine Art Gallery, Taos, New Mexico.

He has received many accolades including the following:
