Martín is one of the artisans most associated with combining laquer with gold (23 karat). In recognition of his art he received the 1988 Mexico’s Primo National Award. Four years later his exhibit in the State Museum of Michoacan made a strong statement about the rescue of laquering as art.

The decorative motifs are exquisitely delicate and cover nearly the entire piece: stylized flowers and birds are framed by frets of different forms through which Martin Andrade displays his fantasy and creativity
