Gabriela de la Vega is a painter who dominates different techniques of making art: oil paintings, pencils, watercolors, pastels and acrylics, in addition to being a writer. Gabriela de la Vega recently exhibited a series of paintings in which her excellencies of soft coloring, and the violent, as well as, dramatic strokes are evident. There is no doubt that this is due to her knowledge of both art and the different effects that be achieved using different kinds of pigments. She excels in her watercolor paintings while illustrating imaginary worlds like she did with Rene Char's poems, Benita Galeana's writings and others that have made her transcend in the illustration. A spectactular and dramatic energy enhances her current paintings. Recently, she illustrated Marco Antonio Montes de Oca's poems, whose work contrasts her recent paintings. Esther Vazquez Ramos published in "Resumen de Arte y Artistas" and interview with Gabriela de la Vega who states: "We painters go through sifference schools. Even Picasso had different styles. I like impressionism, however the form is not enough, the content is necessary. I don't like what is completely abstract, I prefer form and content contrasts, that's why I like Symbolism, Expressionism and Impressionism. " "I like Mexican muralists, especially Siqueiros, because he was
able to condolidate dynamic tendencies. There is complete movement
is his work from head to toe with endless moving elements,." It's
interesting talking to Gabriela de la Vega, an artist and businesswoman,
who is equally sensitive and determined. She portrays these characteristics
both in her watercolors and other recent paintings.
