Brian Kieling |

Brian C. Kieling was born in Roseburg, Oregon, a fifth generation descendant of Aurora German Colony settlers. Raised in Ashland, Oregon, Kieling attended Idaho State University and Portland State University, majoring in fine arts. Kieling spent the mid-seventies painting in Hawaii, exhibiting at Gallery Hawaii on Waikiki and New Caledonia with six months painting in New Zealand, exhibiting at Queens Gallery in Auckland The mid-seventies and early eighties were spent in the Caribbean. Sailing with friends, Kieling visited most of the islands of the Lesser and Greater Antilles, with the majority of time spent painting on the island of Bequia in the Grenadines. His paintings were exhibited in Hotel Frangipani, owned by the Right Honorable John Mitchell, Prime Minister, St Vincent and the Grenadines. Kieling's twin sons were born in Barbados in 1983. In the late 80's, Brian's work was exhibited at his brother Matthew's gallery in Aurora. Fire swept the building in the fall on 1990 destroying the gallery and the antique store housed within. For the last fifteen years Kieling has spent the winters painting at his studio in La Manzanilla Del Mar, a small fishing village on the coast of southern Jalisco, Mexico with summers spent on the family farm south of Canby, Oregon. |
